Artist Kelly M. Formoso
Art creates new opportunities to feel connected. A single look or touch to a piece of art can create a unique and beautiful experience either for the individual or the collective.
For over a decade, I dedicated my time responding to natural and manmade disasters across the United States, and then poured those emergencies into my paintings. Through those experiences I became captivated by nature's extremes and its sophisticated beauty, and recognized the importance of building connections. I had long dreamt of one day having my own pottery studio, so that I could transition from canvas to clay. In 2023, I poured the foundation, painted the walls, and purchased the equipment.
My work is focused on creating connections with nature and using clay as a vehicle to create a piece that speaks to you and yours. Whether grown in the garden or harvested from the woods all the plants tended on the studio grounds are adored and appreciated for their bountiful gifts. I hope you feel that when I press these flowers and leaves into the stoneware clay, this was made for you. So that you can feel the blooms and stems from my garden to yours.
I aspire to celebrate the beauty of nature with functional pieces while creating deep connections. May you enjoy your piece for years to come.
